How to do a research essay in 1 hour:
1. be very familiar with ctrl-c and ctrl-v
2. take a bunch of text, rearrange, change words with microsoft thesaurus.

4. ta-da. your very own research essay.
the research essay turned out like shit but who cares? its endang.
halfway doing when to cook up some lunch. fried some bacon,egg and ham and baked some french fries. the bacon was damn oily. Super-Size Me, here i come.
after essay done spent abt 1/2 hour printing daryl's study notes, my 2 page essay+1 single sentence page "acknowledgements" and copying the history notes.
next on the to-do list was car washing. my sister got nothing to do so came wif me to wash. she thought it was "fun". i locked her in the car to do interior but told her not to mess it up cos i'm the one who'll get screwed. Halfway through it rained. sux. finally finished after about 45 min. five dollars earned. "white cars are harder to wash cos their stains are more obvious"
time flied and went out wif family for dinner. came home and remembered still got chem and history hmwk to do. and the stupid cme project that saras forced us to pass up tomorrow. oh well. die then die lor. life rawks.

It's the start of the new semester and all that goes with it: research papers, essays, theses, dissertations. If English is not your native language these can be difficult to produce; this is especially true because many native speakers cannot write these academic projects extremely well.
In writing academic projects there are such conceptual aspects to consider such as tone, mode, and voice, for example. Tone is the general feel of the academic project such as the basic requirement that academic coursework should be more formal in nature. Mode is the type of essay or research paper such as argumentative, persuasive or compare and contrast; that is, what are you trying to do with your paper? Finally, voice is the perspective from which you are writing as in first person, third person and these can be made more complicated by making them first person plural or third person plural and there is second person as well.
Confused? So are many others because the actual research and composition of the paper hasn't even begun yet. Essays and most academic writing typically follow fairly structured formats as well such as relying on an introductory paragraph or statement in which the thesis sentence is introduced where the topic for the project is laid out. Additionally, the body paragraphs also contain topic sentences that lay out the topic that each paragraph discusses. In this sense, paragraphs are mini essays in that they are constructed in the same manner.
These points discussed thus far do not even begin to address higher level academic writing concepts such as the type of research methodology and formalized structure in which theses and dissertations are constructed. That is, what type of research methodology are you going to employ: quantitative or qualitative and then there are a whole slew of options once this basic methodology is identified.
It is clear that academic and business composition is a complicated act in itself and that mechanical things such as research and documentation style such as APA, MLA, Harvard or Chicago-Turabian have not even been broached yet.
